Sanyo 8100 - A Great Buy Reviewer: dreknar on Tue Oct 28, 2003 The Sanyo 8100 is an all around great phone. Sanyo may not be one of the first names that comes to your mind when you think about cell phones, but their phones are fantastic! The 8100 offers a built in camera that takes quality photos. Even without a flash this phone takes great pictures. The 8100 also offers great quality. Side by side with other phones I would say that probably 95% of the time the Sanyo has the best signal strength. And even with bad signals the sound from this phone is great. It is unbelievable when you call someone from a cell phone and they can not tell. That is what the 8100 will offer you. Sanyo also offers some of the best battery times you can imagine. This phone has a color screen which generally sucks the life out of the battery. However, unlike other color phones you do NOT have t

Signal Quality: The 8100 has had a strong signal most everywhere I have used it. I live in a major metropolitan area, so usually I am near cell towers. I have noticed that the bar graph will sometimes dip briefly down to 1 bar but then back up to 4. It seems like that may be a problem with the phone's reception, but I'm not sure. Screen Quality: The dual color screens are very nice. They are both very bright and have vivid colors. The backlighting on the screens is quite sufficient and can be customized, as far as how long it stays on. I have noticed that the screens are both very succeptible to smearing streaking finger oils. I wonder if there is some sort of screen guard I could get. It can sometimes make the screen hard to read. Phone GUI: Very nice. Menus were very crisp, well laid out, and easy to read. It was fairly simple to figure out how to set up screensavers and colors.
